Gourdo

Gourdo

Gourdo is one of the earlier “basketpods”. I was beginning to experiment with embedding woven forms with plaster in this piece. The form is a more literal imitation of a gourd, dyed with green pigment, with fluted sides. When the form was finished, it seemed to need something to anchor it. I found a rusted old iron ball finial on the shore that seemed perfect.
