Like many artists I know, I am a scavenger. I look at, and collect found objects as materials. Interesting shapes and patinaed surfaces capture my attention and I imagine them as fragments of something yet to be made, or sometimes I see a face and a character emerges. In the studio the fragments may suggest imagined narratives. What and where were these fragments in their prime? Who made them and who lived with them and how did they come to be wreckage on these shores? Found objects are clear reminders of time and its passage, and the fleeting nature of life.
